What is an Informational Interview?

An informational interview is a meeting with a professional in the career in which you are interested. YAC will find an accomplished leader in that field to meet with you, one on one, in his or her office. The expert will talk with you about your goals and plans, tell you more about the field you want to enter and offer advice on how YOU can achieve your goals!

For TeensCan You Be a Success?

Every successful person knows how to be his or her own self-advocate. As a self-advocate, you:
  • Set long-term goals
  • Research and plan to accomplish these goals
  • Make valuable connections with people and organizations that can help you succeed
In the Getting Beyond the System seminar, you will:
  • Read cases (stories) about teens like you in real-life situations
  • Be in a small class with other teens who are motivated to succeed
  • Learn self-advocacy from an experienced teacher
  • Go on an informational interview with a professional in a field in which you are interested
Once you have completed the program, you will have connections for a lifetime, experience in presenting yourself and the tools to succeed as a self-advocate.
